Things to do
If you have time to explore , check out this list of our favorite places in and around Burlington! You can also view this list in Google Maps: H+A's Favorite Places.
Food & Drink
Honey Road
Haley's favorite restaurant in town! Superb mediterranean food, right on Church Street, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options.
Kestrel Coffee Roasters
Excellent coffee in a light, airy cafe. Aaron and I might see you there Saturday morning!
Penny Cluse
Classic downtown Burlington brunch spot!
August First
Beautiful bakery with outdoor seating and delicious sandwiches.
Light Club Lamp Shop / Radio Bean
Fun, funky bar and venue in the Old North End! Skyler's favorite for late night dancing.
Tomgirl Kitchen
Bright and cheerful spot for juice and healthy lunches. Haley and her mom learned how to make cyanotype sun prints with Tomgirl's owner, which led to a craft project with Aaron that will be part of our chuppah!
Other good dinner spots for large groups
Farmhouse Tap & Grill (local ingredients, right off Church Street), Burlington Beer Company (large, bright beer garden), Waterworks Food + Drinks (beautiful location right on the Winooski River),
Dedalus Wine Shop, Market, & Wine Bar
Dedalus has great wine, cheese, and picnic provisions and a cozy bar/restaurant!
Dobra Tea
Dark, cozy tea shop. Haley spent many high school evenings in here with friends feeling cool and worldly 😅. Try the chilled staroborshov – a deliciously refreshing shaken tea with foam on top.
City Market/Onion River Co-op
Great co-op right in town. Head here if you need to stock up on food or grab a quick bite from the prepared food section.
Pho Hong
Good BYOB Vietnamese spot in the friendly Old North End neighborhood of Burlington!
The Wallflower Collective
Very cool bar with an eclectic, 70s vibe. Grab pizza next door and bring it into the bar. Don’t mind the funny location in a parking lot - way worth it!
Al's French Fries, South Burlington
Classic creemee spot attached to a diner! Order a small fries and vanilla creemee (dip your fries in the creemee!) and a black raspberry creemee with chocolate sprinkles. There are more picturesque and gourmet creemee stands, but Al's is an institution and Haley's childhood favorite.
Activities
Burlington's Waterfront Park
Go here for a picnic or to stroll along the water with wonderful views of the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain! Sometimes busy on the weekends.
Keep your eyes peeled for Champ, Burlington's friendly sea monster!
You can also rent bikes at Local Motion or Skirack and explore the10-mile paved bike trail along the water.
Explore Shelburne Farms
Visit this gorgeous, sprawling farm designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted, Jr., and located near Burlington in Haley's hometown. Park up front and provide a small donation to walk the extensive grounds, visit the working farm buildings, and take in the views of Lake Champlain. Pick up a coffee and snack from our friends at Village Wine and Coffee on your way there!
Swim at Oakledge Beach
Our favorite beach near Burlington! Skip the sandy strip and head for the trails, which lead to rocky outcrops where you can lizard-lounge and jump into the lake. Also check out the earth clock while you're there!
Shops around Burlington and Winooski
Church Street - At the heart of Burlington is Church Street, a pedestrian-only street lined with shops and restaurants. A bit crowded and touristy, but worth a quick stroll to get oriented.

The Vault Collective - Wonderfully fun vintage store right off Church Street! Highly recommend wandering through to search for hidden gems.

Common Deer - Lots of local VT products and sweet gifts.
Rhoan - Beautiful clothing store (mostly femme) in Winooski. Haley was born a few blocks away and loved exploring the old mill as a kid.
Hike Mt. Philo (easy, 1 hour loop)
For a short but sweet hike, head to Mt. Philo in nearby Charlotte. There's a paved road and a wooded path, so you can pick your pleasure!
Hike Camel's Hump via Burrows Trail (difficult, 4-5 hour loop)
For a longer, more strenuous hike, we recommend Camel's Hump. Plan to get there early with plenty of snacks and water and wear real hiking shoes.
